children's programs
At the Charlestown Working Theater, we believe strongly in the empowering quality of the arts. It is
an essential part of our artistic mandate to offer free quality arts programming to the youth of
Charlestown. The CWT’s Arts Programming for Children and Youth fulfills many of the theater's goals
by bringing the community together in a creative enterprise. These experiences empower the participants
in selecting positive lifestyle choices. By offering quality arts programming free of charge, we
provide the opportunity for children and youth from differing backgrounds to come together in a
nurturing and productive environment where creativity, mutuality, and responsibility are valued
and encouraged.
The CWT provides high-quality theatre and art classes to children and youth free of
charge. Here, two participants delight in the joys of paper-making.
The CWT offers a wide selection of artistic opportunities to the children
of Charlestown and surrounding communities. Yoga, singing rehearsal, and
puppetry classes are just some examples of CWT’s educational programming.
CWT’s very popular youth productions fulfill many of the theater's goals by
bringing the community together in a creative enterprise.
Here, adaptations of The Nutcracker and Freddy Goes to the North Pole by
Kristin Johnson, directed by Jennifer Johnson, with musical direction by John
Peitso.
CWT’s extremely successful production of The Sound of Music, featuring sixty
actors and crew members between the ages of 5-17.
