From Buenos Aires Grupo Jícara Teatro

La Rosa en el Desierto

teatro de movimiento y objetos

(theatre of movement and objects)

Argentina's acclaimed Jícara Teatro bring their newest original performance to the CWT as part of their 2009 U.S. tour. Using puppets, performance objects, and rich imagery, they tell a gentle story of roses, dust, and silence.

Jícara Teatro is a group of artists and theatrical investigators which was founded in 1985 in Buenos Aires. They combine original and distinct styles and acting techniques with theatrical objects, music, dance, and clowning. Their work explores the unknown, amplifies the physical world and reflects light upon what exists in each of us.
Sutil.

Silencio. La noche se extiende.

Ellos se tocan como fuegos.

Polvo... Polvo.

La Rosa nace desde el útero del mundo.

Aroma.

Pétalos, pétalos y pétalos descienden hacia la pureza del espíritu.

     ......será así todo lo desconocido......

Subtle.

Silence. The night runs.

They play like fires.

Dust... Dust.

A rose was born from the belly of the earth.

Scents.

Petals, petals, petals float down to the purity of the spirit.

     ......everything is unknown......
