An Evening of Toy Theatre
Presented by Great Small Works and the CWT.
The New York-based theatre company
Great Small Works,
returns to the CWT, this time bringing with them a series of intricate, miniature performances.
Originally a popular and simple means of staging dramatic spectacles in the Victorian parlor,
Toy Theater (also known as "paper theater") was the rage in homes across Europe and the Americas in the 19th century.
Since 1991, Great Small Works has been reinventing Toy Theater as a compelling form of storytelling -- fantastic in scope,
easily affordable and open to any imaginable content.

Performances will include
A Walk in the City, inspired by stories by Italo Calvino,
using elaborate pre-film techniques, and
Blue Skies -- with beautifully crafted scenes
of flood, tornado, rain and ice, this small-scale show addresses large-scale concerns about the politics of weather and the
unnatural effects of natural disasters.
